The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has identified a shortage of both presidential and parliamentary ballot papers in five constituencies within the Volta Region. This unexpected issue has sparked immediate action to ensure the upcoming elections proceed without disruption.

Affected Constituencies and Immediate Action Plan

The constituencies impacted by the shortage include:

  • Keta
  • Ketu North
  • Ho Central
  • Hohoe
  • Ho West

To address this shortfall, the EC has announced plans to print additional ballot papers at Acts Commercials Printing House in Accra. The Commission has assured all stakeholders that these ballots will be distributed promptly to avoid delays during the electoral process.

Ensuring Transparency in Ballot Printing

To promote transparency and maintain trust in the election process, the EC has called on all political parties and independent presidential candidates to participate in the monitoring of the ballot printing. Each candidate or party must send two representatives to observe the process.

This independent oversight aims to verify that the printing is conducted according to legal standards and without any irregularities.

The observation exercise is scheduled for Friday, November 29, at 10:00 AM at Acts Commercials in Accra.
